Do's and Don'ts of Donating at Our Donation Center

All donated items must be clean, functioning properly, and must include all parts and accessories including power/charging cables.

Items in high demand are gladly accepted!

Sometimes Share the Care may decline donations due to space constraints, little demand, or safety and hygiene-related concerns.

Share the Care understands that this may cause frustration, but we ask you to understand that these decisions are made in order to better serve our operations.

Frequently Asked Questions

We accept donations Monday through Friday, between the hours of 10am and 3pm. If you have a large item to donate such as a hospital bed or lift chair, please call (707) 492-3198 or email info@sharethecarenv.org to schedule an appointment.

No, all equipment and supplies are free to those in need. We happily accept monetary donations, but they are never required.

No. All people are welcome. We strive to help those who have the greatest need within our community.

Yes, you are asked to sign a waiver of liability when you take an item from the donation center. If your caregiver, friend, or family member picks up for you, then we ask that they sign on your behalf.

No, we do not expect items to be returned. You may re-donate to our center once you are no longer in need. We ask that you clean/disinfect equipment prior to dropping it off.

Depending on the skills of our volunteers and available funding resources, we may be able to make minor repairs on items such as seated walkers and wheelchairs. We do not repair electric wheelchairs or hospital beds.

Wheelchairs, adult pull-ups, disposable bed pads and wipes, and seated walkers are the items individuals request from Share the Care most often.

Depending on volunteer availability, Share the Care may be able to deliver or pickup items for homebound seniors only. Please call (707) 492-3198 or email info@sharethecarenv.org to check availability.

We accept medical equipment and unopened home health supplies such as canes, walkers, boots, walking sticks, braces, wheelchairs, seat cushions, crutches, lift chairs, dressing sticks, ice machines, gauze, dressings, ostomy supplies, blood pressure and glucose monitors, hearing aid batteries, nutritional supplements, pill cutters, medication organizers, CPAP, sock aids, pull-ups, briefs, cleansers, commodes, toilet risers that attach with screws, catheters and supplies, hospital beds, Hoyer lifts, transfer boards, slings, bed assist bars, bed rails, bed pads, shower chairs, cleansing cloths, gait belts, transfer and IV poles, and gloves. Please call (707) 492-3198 or email info@sharethecarenv.org in advance of your visit to clarify if items are needed.

No, due to space constraints, we do not.

Yes, we will gladly give you a receipt as we are a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt organization. You will be given a receipt in which you will document your donation along with its value.

Our donation center accepts gently used medical equipment and unopened home health supplies that would otherwise end up in landfill. Equipment and supplies are then redistributed to community members at no cost. Call ahead to verify which donations are in demand and being accepted. 707.492.3198.
